Du har troligtvis sett en annons eller två (hundra!) För getyoga. Kanske till och med Cat Yoga. Men kycklingyoga? (Även formuleringen ser bara ... fel ut.)

Full disclaimer: As someone with a large and irrational fear of chickens, I may be slightly prejudiced in my desire to NOT attend a chicken yoga class. However, I will try to remain impartial and not let my (very) particular feelings on the animal influence my outlook on this new form of, erm, yoga.

At Hotel Haya in Ybor City, Florida, a local yoga studio, Yoga Loft Tampa, hosts a chicken yoga class on the last Sunday of the month. And, yes, it’s exactly what you think: chickens wandering around the room while you practice.

The purpose of the class is to raise funds for wounded chickens who are treated at a local center, Ybor Misfits Microsanctuary. While I’m not opposed to helping heal hurt birds, the chicken yoga class may not be the best fundraising mechanism. Beyond det kulturella anslaget av en praxis that wasn’t intended to include these birds, the logistics of this particular class are a bit…confusing. Typically, goat yoga classes take place outdoors, leaving the animals with ample opportunity to, erm, do their business. But in this case, the chickens parade around the indoor studio, necessitating the wearing of what appear to be diapers (yes, diapers) on more than a few of the birds. I think I’ll pass on that.
